Daily Commonwealth, Mon. Jan. 16, 1922, p. 5:7. M. WALGENBACH DIES AT ST. CLOUD. Funeral Will be Held in This City Tomorrow. WAS ILL FOR TEN YEARS. Matthew Walgenbach, 76, died Sunday morning at the home of his son, Joseph, in the village of St. Cloud following an illness which has extended for over a period of ten years. The body will be brought to Fond du Lac by train tomorrow morning for funeral services, which will be held at St. Mary's church at 9 o'clock, followed by burial at Calvary cemetery. Rev. Charles Stehling will officiate. Mr. Walgenbach came to this country when an infant. He resided on a farm for a number of years in Forest and Empire townships. About fifteen years ago he retired and came to this city to reside. Upon the death of his wife eight years ago he went to live with his son, Joseph, in the village of St. Cloud. He leaves five children. They are Joseph and William of this city; Frank, of Saukville; Mrs. Joseph Hutter Jr., Mrs. Sebastian Moersch, also 19 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The body is being brought to the city train owing to the impassable conditions of the roads.

Daily Commonwealth, Tues. Jan. 17, 1922, p. 12: 6. MR. WALGENBACH BURIED. The body of Matt Walgenbach was interred at Calvary cemetery this morning following services held at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's church, Rev. Charles Stehling officiating. There was also a mass at St. Claudius' church, St. Cloud, before the body was removed to this city. The bearers were Joseph, Frank and William Walgenbach, sons of the deceased; and Michael Londre, Joseph Hutter, Jr., and Sebastian Moersch, sons-in-law. Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. John Michaels, Mrs. Kate Schmidlkopfer and John Hennen, Mt. Calvary; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Quackenboss, St. Cloud; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Loehr, Johnsburg; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Steiner, Lomira. In addition to relatives mentioned in the obituary notice yesterday, Mr. Walgenbach is survived by two brothers, Frank and Nicholas, of this city; and four sisters, Mrs Barbara Schmitz, city; Mrs. John Michaels, Mt. Calvary; Sister M. Rosebia, Notre Dame convent, Milwaukee; and Sister M. Frances, Notre Dame convent, Highland Ill.
