He was a native of Fifefield, Iowa. He came to Bonner County in 1952 from South Dakota. His wife, Mary, had died in 1943.
Mr. VandenBerg is survived by six daughters and a son. They are Johanna Montgomery, Sandpoint; Corlena Koranda, Platt, S.D.; Elizabeth Marvel, Wessington, S.D.; Esther Patterson, Rapid City, S.D.; Antonie Willard, Solway, Minn.; Jenette Moe, Tahoe, Calif.; and Peter J. VandenBerg, Browning, Mont. Nine sisters, five brothers, 31 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren also survive.
