Ronald James Fisher, age 68, of Newark, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 7, 2010, at the Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Missouri. He was born July 24, 1941, in Knox County, Missouri, the son of James Henry and Ella Mae Gibbons Fisher. He was preceded in death by his parents Hank and Ella Mae and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents Patrick and Josephine Weber Gibbons and James and Nellie Lyons Fisher. Jim received his education at Fruit Hill, Novelty and LaBelle Schools. As a young man he worked in the wheat harvest in Kansas, rock quarry at Newark, Missouri, tree forestry, Knox County Road, Electric Wheel at Quincy, Illinois and for many years farmed the family farm near Newark, Missouri. Jim was a member of the Eagles and V.F.W. at Quincy, Illinois, Newark American Legion , Knox City American Legion, NRA, a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and served his country in the United States Air Force for four years from 1960 to 1964. Surviving are one son, Samuel James Fisher of Ewing, Missouri, one granddaughter Hannah Marie Fisher of Ewing, Missouri, two brothers, John Fisher of Palmyra, Missouri and Jerry Fisher and wife Cindy of LaGrange, Missouri, one sister, Marilyn K. Miller and husband Don of Knox City, Missouri, several nieces and nephews. He loved to make garden, mow Mom's yard and spending time with all his friends and family. Jim especially loved his dogs Red Dog, Lady, Bobbi and the Cat George. Jim will be sadly missed by all his family. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Father Bill Kottenstette will officiate the services.

Music will be Amazing Grace, Go Rest High On That Mountain, and Will The Circle Be Unbroken.

Burial with full Military Honors will be held in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Conducted by Knox City American Legion Post.

Casket bearers will be Hank Fisher, Stephen Fisher, Jimmy Miller, Don Miller, Gene Devlin Curtiss Baker and C.A. Pack. Visitation will be held Friday, May 14, 2010, after 4 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer funeral Home at Edina, Missouri. A Rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2010 in the Chapel. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knox City American Legion or Newark Fire Department.
