Joseph Reid, married Elizabeth Matthews. He died March 20, 1829, aged forty-six years, and she July 31, 1840, aged fifty-six years. He lived on the west side of Moses Kill, opposite his father's old residence. He had seven children: Helen; William; Ebenezer; Archibald; Catharine (Mrs. Donaldson;) Rebeccah (Mrs. Abraham Bain,) and Sarah.
Eleanor Reid, his only sister, married Archibald, son of John McNeil and his wife, Jane Whorry; and grandson of Archibald McNeil and his wife, Catharine McArthur; and among their children was Robert, a merchant at Coila, and William of East Greenwich, who married a daughter of James Shaw. Eleanor died August 1, 1832, aged fifty-five years, eight months and twenty days and her husband, Archibald McNeil, long survived her and died March 12, 1852, aged eighty-two years.
