Polly Mae Abbott, 59, of 1010 E. Williams St., died at 7:40 am Feb. 20, 2011, at her home.
She was born Sept. 20, 1951, in Waterloo to Harold Issac and Gladys Maxine Fry Hubbs. She married Marvin Eugene Abbott. He preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 2001.
She was a graduate of Longview High School in Longview, Wash. She attended the First Baptist Church in Sigourney and First Pentecostal Assembly of God in Ottumwa.
Polly was a resident through First Resources. She enjoyed the Promise Center in Ottumwa for socialization with her friends. The Tulip Festival in Pella and Old Thrasher's Reunion in Mt. Pleasant were her highlighting events.
Surviving are her mother, Gladys Carriker of Sigourney; a sister, F. Kay Hubbs of Peoria, Ill.; a brother, Wayne L. Hubbs of Ephrata, Wash.; and foster sisters, Mary Crouse of Ottumwa and Beth Crouse of Sigourney.
She was preceded in death by her father and stepfather, Lester Virgil Carriker.
Funeral services will be 1 pm Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Schlotter officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Webster. The family will be at the funeral Home for visitation from 11 am until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Sigourney or First Pentecostal Assembly of God, Ottumwa.
