Charity and her husband John bought 80 acres when it was parceled out by the government. There was a congressional act calling for the sale of public lands in 1820. John and Charity's patent certificate #2887 from Ft Wayne, IN was dated 2/10/1835. This ground was in Liberty township just east of what is now Bethel Friends church.
