Iceland Crash Toll Was 14

WASHINGTON - (U.P.) - The complete casualty list of the Iceland airplane crash in which Lieut. Gen. Frank M. Andrews died revealed that the youngest general officer in the army - Brig. Gen Charles H. Barth - was among the 14 victims. The 39-year-old Barth was Andrews' chief-of-staff. Ten of those who perished were officers ranking from lieutenant general to captain, three were enlisted men, and one a civilian - Bishop Adna Wright Leonard, resident Methodist Bishop o f Washington. The only survivor of the crash was Staff Sgt. George A. Eisel, injured. Barth had been promoted to the star rank only last month. His death and that of Andrews, commander of American forces in Europe, raised to nine the number of American generals who, through airplanes, have either lost their lives or are missing since the outbreak of the war. The dead in the Iceland crash besides Andrews, Barth and Bishop Leonard were:

Col. Morrow Krum, press relations officer, Lake Forest, Ill.
Chaplain (Col.) Frank L. Miller, Washington
Lieut. Col. Fred A. Chapman, Grove Hill, Ala.
Maj. Theodore C. Totman, Jamestown, N.Y.
Chaplain (Maj.) Robert H. Humphrey, Lynchburg, Va.
Capt. Joseph T. Johnson, Los Angeles.
Capt. Robert H. Shannon, Washington, Ia.
Capt. James E. Gott, Berea, Ky.
Master Sgt. Lloyd C. Wier, McCrea, Ark.
Tech. Sgt. Kenneth A. Jeffers, Oriskany Falls, N.Y.
