Verna M. Keeler, 88, Lewisburg
— LEWISBURG — Verna M. Keeler, 88, of 333 JPM Road, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg, surrounded by her family. Prior to her stay at RiverWoods, she had lived with her daughter Joyce for six months due to health issues.
A native of Northumberland County, she was born on the family farm between Milton and Washingtonville on Nov. 27, 1921, a daughter of the late Leslie J. and Lulabell (Kenny) Leach. She was married for over 63 years to Harry B. Keeler who survives.
Verna had attended the Turbotville schools.
She had been employed by Chef Boyardee earlier in her life.
Verna was of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed collecting cardinals, watching the Phillies, shopping, going out for dinner, famith gatherings, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, LeRoy and Maxine Gilbert, of Lewisburg, and Roger and Linda Keeler, of Lewisburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Randy Englehardt, of New Columbia; five granchildren, Mark Gilbert, Carmen Cromley, Deenie Keeler, Brenda Landis and Deana Posey; nine great-grandchildren, Josh Cromley, Brandon Brozovic, Kelsie Cromley, Jalen Jackson, Haley Posey, Isaac Landis, Kai Payton, Kiersten Posey and Rosalie Landis; and one sister, Alberta Ruth Beiber, of Muncy.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl J. Gilbert in 1944.
Friends and relatives will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday followed by the funeral at 2:30, at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, with the Rev. John E. Lee, Pastor of West Milton United Methodist Charge, officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will provide flowers and asks that donations in Verna's memory be made to Evangelical Home Health Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
