Joannah was the daughter of John and Katherine (Jennings) Goad. She died between Aug. 20 and Dec. 25 in 1773. Burial is unknown. She married Valentine Sevier in 1744 in Culpeper County, VA. She was Valentine's first wife and bore him twelve children, the oldest of them being John Sevier, the governor of the "lost" state of Franklin and the first governor of Tennessee.
