Dorathy Petersen Damron 12/22/22 ~ 6/24/06 HINCKLEY - Dorathy Jane Petersen Damron, 83, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully Sat. June 24, 2006 at Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City. Born Dec. 22, 1922 in Deseret, UT to Nels L. and Edith Bennett Petersen, the ninth of 10 children. Graduated Hinckley High and attended BYU. Employed by Millard County School District for 18 years and retired as District School Lunch Supervisor. Held various civic, school, and church positions and was a lifelong Democrat. Her most notable achieve-ment, with her husband, Ken, was successfully blending "hers, his and their" eight children into a loving family. Enjoyed reading, traveling, visiting her children, and Jazz basketball. She adored her children and grandchildren and treasured her relationship with her brothers and sisters. Survived by eight children, Michael (Kathy) Damron, Diane (Ed) Hornsby, Leslie (Dennis) Johnson, Vicki Parish, Jo (David) Burt, Dottie Newsome, Kevin (Denise) Damron, Ron (Julie) Damron; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Ward Petersen; sisters, Grethe Shipp, Margaret Jensen, Beulah Bassett, and Barbra Ashby. Preceded in death by husband, Kenneth; brothers, Lowell, Wayne, Homer; sister, Nelda; and son-in-laws, Joseph Newsome, Paul Parish. Services, Wed, June 28, 2006, 11 a.m., at Hinckley Ward chapel. Friends can call Tues. evening, 7-8 p.m. at Nickle Mortuary and Wed. morning at church, 9:30-10:45 a.m. Burial, Deseret Cemetery.
