Bart Bailey of South 10th Street, Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the Oak Tree Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky. He was 78 years, 9 months and 15 days of age. He was born on February 13, 1932 in Harlan County, Kentucky to the late Joe Virgil Bailey Sr. and Mae Sargent Bailey. Bart was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church for over 60 years. Bart was the co-owner of Bailey's Country Store for over 50 years. Bart was a charity auctioneer in Whitley County for many years with his friend Everett Rains.
He is survived by his wife, Ada Lee Hubbs Bailey of Williamsburg, Kentucky; three brothers, Ed Bailey and his wife Catherine of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Bob Bailey and his wife Deanna of Williamsburg, Kentucky and Joe Bailey and his wife Sandra of Jamestown, Tennessee; two sisters, Dottie Smith and her husband Bob of Seminole, Florida and Lou Wood and her husband Doug of Lady Lake, Florida; two brother-in-laws, Willis Hubbs and his wife Vicki and Kenneth Hubbs; three sister-in-laws, Jo Ann Brown, Rozena Grant and her friend Clifford Jones and Betty Mauney; great-great nieces, Kaitlin Nichols Brown and Hailey Michelle Brown; one great-great nephew, Jayce Austin Bart Brown; several nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Wright, Rev. Bill Mitchell and Rev. Keith Decker officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Whitley Memorial Gardens. Eddie Bailey, Derrick Davenport, William Brown, Ben Davis, Tristan Hall, Glen Ray Hale, Tom Rains and Bobby West will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Bart Brown, Sam Lawson, Dr. Daniel Whitley, Paul Steely, Eddie Boyd, Joseph McNaughton and Dr. Bert Ballou.
