Biography by Diana Druback

Charles Armitage Morgan was born on January 10, 1871 in Brooklyn, New York to James Morgan (c.1827-1908)and Janet Stewart Morgan (c.1833-1893). Both of Charles' parents had been born in Scotland and immigrated to the United States. Charles lived at 991 Grove and then at 245 Concord, both in Brooklyn from about 1888 and 1890. Charles worked as an electrician, a clerk in a music store, salesman for a music company, a piano salesman, and he played the violin. He has been described as a "very silent man." No marriage record has yet been found for Charles and Anna Hulda Riedel Thomae (1874-1937). If they did marry, it would have been after the 1905 New York State Census was taken and about a year after Hulda's first husband Albin Hy Thomae (1864-1904) died. Hulda had five children, who were still living in 1905 and Charles and Hulda had two more children. The couple lived at 269 6th and by 1920 they resided at 5915 3rd Avenue. They owned a home at 27 Frank Court in Gerrittsen Beach, Brooklyn, New York. It was a two story one family frame dwelling house. Charles died at home on January 18, 1941 and was buried with his wife Hulda in the Morgan family plot (Lot 28546, Section 198) at Green-Wood Cemetery on January 21, 1941.
