Joseph died Sept. 10, 1842, leaving Marie Helene a widow with at least one young child. Feb. 5, 1843, Marie Helene married Nicolaus Bockius at St. Mary of Victories Church in St. Louis, when Margaret was about 5 years old.
Sadly, Marie Helene died within a few years. In August 1849, Nicolaus married Maria Anna Franck. He was a widower with a step-daughter of teen age--just a few years younger than his bride. Nicholas and Maria raised Margaret to adulthood.
Margaret Riesdorf married Frederick F. Hillgert and moved to Jefferson County. In 1880, they are found in Meramec, Jefferson County.
Margaret was the mother of Mary, Frank, Agnes H., Caroline (Lena) P., Louis, Catherine and Frederick F. Jr. She died in 1888, afterwhich Frederick and the remaining children moved to St. Louis City.
