Statesboro - Ira Hendrix, 70, died Saturday at Talmadge Memorial Hospital in Augusta after a short illness. The Bulloch County native was a farmer in the Denmark community most of his life. He was a member of Harville Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Esther Hendrix of Pembroke; two daughters, Mrs. Iris H. Brannen of Statesboro and Mrs. Wilette H. Beasley of Brooklet; two sons, Billy Hendrix of Brooklet and Bobby Hendrix of Statesboro; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hendrix of Statesboro; two brothers, Oscar Hendrix Jr. of Statesboro and Wilmer Hendrix of Savannah; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Lee Godbee of Statesboro, Mrs. Maggie Blackburn of Port Wentworth and Mrs. Virginia Young of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 3:30 p.m. today at Smith-Tillman Mortuary in Statesboro, burial in Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro.
