Born in New Orleans, circa 1913 - 1914, as Estelle J. Anderson, a grew up in the Uptown section of the city.

Sister James entered the convent of the Sisters of Christian Charity in 1930 and received her habit in 1932. She taught in New Orleans Catholic schools for many years.

She taught at St. Gregory School in Chicago from 1936 - 1946, and in Detroit from 1946 - 1949, before returning to New Orleans in 1949. She taught at St. Raphael the Archangel School in New Orleans (1949 - 1960) until her retirement.

She retired from teaching in 1960, and worked in the convent doing housekeeping and cooking.

Daughter of Estelle Charree* Anderson and Andrew Harry Anderson.

Beloved sister of Alice Anderson Trahan, Leona Anderson Gauthier, Ida Anderson Manno, James Robert Anderson, Philip Andrew Anderson, and Andrew J. Anderson.

Granddaughter of Rodolph Charree* and Fannie Kimball; William Lafayette Anderson and Ida L. Simpson.

Parishioners of St. Henry's, St. Francis of Assisi, and St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Churches were invited to attend her funeral services.

Visitation at Joseph Laughlin Funeral Home, 4500 Magazine Street, New Orleans, Friday evening, 18 March 1988, 6 PM until 10 o'clock, and Saturday morning, 19 March 1988, at 9:30 o'clock.

Mass of Christian Burial at St. Raphael Church, followed at 2212 Prentiss Avenue corner of Elysian Fields Avenue. Msgr. Vernon P. Aleman presided.

Interment in St. Vincent Cemetery # 1, Soniat Street, New Orleans, Louisiana.
