Veteran, CHIEF YEOMENETTE US NAVY,1917-1919. She married Magnus Oliver Foss in 1919 and they had five children: Magnus Oliver Jr., Helena Marie, William Carl, Mark Bergmann, Mary Louise, and John Everett Foss. Pallbearers at the funeral of Mrs. M. O. (Ethel) Foss, 2511 11th Street. S., Moorhead, will be Russell Thompson, John Oyen, Joseph Mork, Joseph Young, Sig Bjornson and Arthur P. Diercks. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Utke will sing with Dr. Berkeley Peabody, organist. The funeral will be at 2 today in First Congregational Church, Moorhead, Mrs. Foss died Saturday. Ill for some time, she had been cared for the last three months by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Neil (Eva) Hoyt, who came here from Milwaukee, Wis., for the purpose. Mrs. Foss had served two years in a Navy reserve unit in World War I, the first women's unit to be established by the US Navy. The unit is now called the WAVES. During her service she wrote several articles about the service that were published in the Saturday Evening Post and were used in recruiting work. At discharge, she held the rank of Chief Yeoman, then the highest rank obtainable in her branch of service.Mrs. Foss was a member of First Congregational Church of Moorhead, its Women's Fellowship and of the Women's Club of Moorhead. Arrangements are through Wright Funeral Home.
