Son of Mrs Isabella D. Smith, was was living in Barre, Vermont, when Albert died in 1934; father of Eleanor F. Smith & Ruth C. Smith, both of Port Jefferson, Suffolk County, L. I.; he graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in civil engineering; moved to Greenport, Suffolk County, L. I. in 1906 & later to Port Jefferson, L. I.; served as the Suffolk County Sup't of Highways 1909-1914 & 1918-1934; "responsible for construction of more than 200 miles of concrete road, with about 2500 miles of highway under his supervision"; member of the American Society of Civil Engineers; member of the First Presbyterian Church of Port Jefferson; belonged to the Masons; funeral services at his home in Port Jefferson by Rev. Reister of the First Presbyterian Church
