Iris Peterson's obituary appeared in the Chico Enterprise-Record on Jan. 22 and 23, 1983 (reproduced in Del Osborn's "Hogaboom Markham" book, p. 206): Iris Peterson.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brusie Funeral Home for former Chico resident Iris Lorraine Peterson, 73, of Redding.

She died Friday in a Sacramento hospital.

Mrs. Peterson was born Sept. 19, 1909, to Alfred and Reta Markham Osborn of Mt. Shasta, where she was reared and went to school.

She married Robert Peterson in 1930 in Mt. Shasta and they moved in 1947 to Chico.

Peterson died in a plane crash June 9, 1957.

She lived in Chico until 1965, when she moved to Cloverdale and then to Redding.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include a son, Robert of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Judith Hines of Cloverdale, Elizabeth Fontaine of Auburn and Pamela Walker of Ada, Okla.; two brothers, Hilton Osborn of Chico and Alfred Osborn of Sacramento; and 11 grandchildren.

A bishop from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate at the services.

Burial will be in the Chico Cemetery.
