Margaret Ann Gerhart, born October 22, 1930 in Fairfax, MO to Clara Mae Shaffer Davis and Earl Steward Davis. Following graduation from Fairfax High School in 1948 she attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, MO, where she subsequently graduated and began work with Shell Oil in Tulsa, OK. She met and married John Dale Gerhart in 1953 and during their 19 year marriage made numerous geographical moves before returning to Tulsa in 1973. She was a dedicated member of Saint Dunstan's Episcopal Church, serving in many capacities including as a member of the Altar Guild, Vestry and as a board member of Saint Dunstan's Adult Daycare. She was employed by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists for 27 years where she remained until the time of her death. Throughout her many years of service she was known and loved by friends and colleagues worldwide. In honor of her dedication and hard work for students of geophysics, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists has established the "Marge Gerhart Memorial Scholarship Fund". A dedicated mother and grandmother, she was a very generous, bright and deeply loving woman. Marge succeeded in virtually every task presented and arose to the many challenges she faced throughout her life and illness. She was a true source of great joy to all who knew her and will be deeply missed by family and friends alike. She is survived by: her loving daughter, Carrie Sue Parenti and husband, Robert of Tulsa; granddaughter, Natalie Gail Paige of Tulsa; sister, Patricia L. Little and husband, James S. Little, also of Tulsa; and niece, Lisa K. Comer and husband, Ronald L. Comer of El Reno, OK. Memorial service will be held at Saint Dunstan's Episcopal Church, 6635 E. 71st Street on Thursday, February 10, 2000 at 11 a.m. with private family committal in the Saint Dunstan's Episcopal Church Memorial Garden following.
