Lowell (Bub) A. Boone, 90, of Noxen, died Thursday at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and David Buck, Greenfield Township, where he had been residing for the last two-and-a-half years.
He was born in Polo, Ill., on May 6, 1915, son of the late Albert Lowell and Grace Engle Boone and was raised in Olivet, S.D. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Boone was employed by Armour Leather Co., Noxen, for 15 years and owned and operated Boone`s Plumbing and Heating Service for many years. He also was a school bus contractor for the Monroe Township and Tunkhannock Area School District for 55 years.
His wife, the former Lillian Crispell, died in 2003. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth and John Boone; sister, Bernice Bubel.
Surviving, in addition to his daughter and son-in-law, David and Sharon Buck, are his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Robert Bennett, Noxen; brothers, Jay Boone, East Otto, N.Y.; Jere Boone, Stillwater; sisters, Bertha Thompson, Carverton; Mary-ann Welch, Rochester, N.Y.; Audrey Achuff, Sweet Valley; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Bradley Bennett and Chelsea, Alyssa and Brielle Buck; great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Halle and Cole Bennett.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 from Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with the Rev. Lynn H. Mokwa, pastor of Bowman`s Creek Free Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Park, Franklin Township. Friends may call Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice, 301 Delaware Ave., Olyphant, PA 18447.
