Marty was born in 1915. He was the son of Arthur Julius Bailey(1889-1953) and Esda Merle Brobst Bailey(1889-1964). His older brother was John Linn Bailey (1913-2005).

Marty had three children with Stella Hosmer Bailey(1916-1996); Bill Bailey(1942-1963), Barbara Joan Bailey(1947-1947), and Patricia Bailey.

During WWII, He served in the Navy in the South Pacific on an LST. He was a Fire Controlman.

He worked as a Master Plumber in New Mexico and Colorado.

He played guitar and harmonica. He loved to sing old songs like; You are My Sunshine, and the Wreck of the Old 97. He loved to hunt, hike, fish, ski, and snowmobile.

He died in 1980. He is buried in the Mt Olivet Cemetery in Buena Vista, Colorado.
