Hazel Marie (Coons) Covey of North Salem died March 10 (2002) at Danville Regional Rehabilitation Center. She was 90. Born Feb. 15, 1912 in Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Bertram and Flora Elizabeth (Smith) Coons. She married Kenneth Covey Nov. 28, 1934 in Greenwood. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Covey had been a homemaker and had worked at the Pace and Porter Furniture Store in North Salem. She had also worked at North Salem Sundries before retiring in 1977. She was a member of the North Salem United Methodist Church.

Survivors include sons Donald Wayne Covey of Danville and Keith Allen Covey of Lizton; daughters Carolyn Jean Linton of Jamestown and Rose Marie Larmer of Clayton; a brother, Ralph B. Coons of Joplin, Missouri; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were brothers Earl Coons and Roy Coons and a sister, Beulah Pierson.

Services were March 12 at the Porter Funeral Home in North Salem with the Rev. Scott Tyring officiating. Interment was at the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Lizton.
