McKINNEY DEMOCRAT-5 Dec. 1919~ -Widow Of The Late Capt. Grundy Lewis Dies At Ripe Old Age- Mrs. Grundy Lewis, nee Mary Lavenia Bryant) , aged about 80 years, who had been living in the Foote Comunity for the past 40 or 50 years, died at her home there on Monday morning, December 2, 1919 at 3 o'clock.. She was the widow of the late Capt. (Felix) Grundy Lewis, who died several years ago. She was a native of Cocke Co.Tennessee, but as above stated had made her home in the Foote Community for about a half a century.She was the mother of 12 children, 11 of whom survive, as follows: William Lewis of Washington state,; Andrew Jackson Lewis of Gainesville, Tx.; Mrs. J.M. (Texas) Coleman of Oklahoma; Mrs. Lee (Elizabeth) Smith of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Martin Grundy Lewis also of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Mrs. George (Mary Louella) Rutherford of McKinney, Tx.; Dr. James Felix Lewis of Mississippi; Lawrence Wallace Lewis of Plano, Tx.; Charles Anderson Lewis of Oklahoma; Benjamin Lewis & Edwin Lewis both of the Foote Community. She is also survived by one sster, Mrs. James (Elizabeth) Duncan of Bowlby, Tx. She was a member of the Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church for many years. The funeral services were held at the Church Tuesday at 2:30 o'clockand were conducted by Rev. C.C. Bass.
