Family Information: The Apple family residence during the early part of the 1920s was also known as the Bleven's Place. The only Apple child born here was the youngest: Sue (Sue Apple Merritt) in 1920. Ezma, Paul, Ruby and Rachel were born at the McClanahan Place (rental) near Bellville, Arkansas. The family moved to Dardanelle so Ruby and Paul could go to school. Ruby graduated HS in 1928. She began teaching school in 1929 because that was what her father wanted her to do. He asked her to teach three years and then he would let her go to Nurses training. After three years of teaching school she went to Nurses training and was a nurse for the rest of her professional life.
