The son of John T. Harris, Henry Scott Harris, was born in Cheatham County, Tennessee. His parents moved their family to Williamson County, Illinois when Henry Scott Harris was 7 years of age.
Here in Williamson County, Illinois, Henry was educated and raised, eventually becoming married to his wife Sarilda on October 25, 1868. Sarilda, was the daughter of Henry Hays & Martha Litton.
Henry Scott Harris was a farmer as well as having served as a former sheriff of Williamson County, Illinois.
Sarilda and Henry were the parents of three children. Their oldest son, Charlie Harris, died at the age of 21. Their son, John D. Harris lived on a farm near his fathers, and their daughter became married to a Mr. John Parks and relocated to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
