Myron A. Stevens, 78, 35-year city fireman

Myron A. Stevens, 78, of 187 Ashland Ave., Springfield, a retired 35-year Springfield fireman, died Sunday in Dover Foxcroft, Maine.
He retired in 1977 with the rank of captain and last worked at the Indian Orchard station.
He was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He was graduated from the former Springfield Technical High School.
He was a life member of the Springfield Lodge of Elks and a member of the Firemen's Privates Club and Veterans Golf Club.
He leaves his wife, the former Anna L. Bailey; four sons, William R. of East Longmeadow, Thomas M. of Monson and Robert C. and Richard P., both of Springfield; a daughter, Julia A. Stevens at home; a sister, Marion Lowe of Orleans; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday morning at the T.P. Sampson Chapel of the Acres with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield 01104, or to Springfield Lodge of Elks Scholarship Fund, 440 Tiffany St., Springfield, 01108.
