American motion picture writer and composer of the 1920s through 1950s. He wrote many popular hit songs while teamed with legendary composer/screenwriter Bert Kalmar, among them, "I Want To Be Loved By You," "Who's Sorry Now?" Nominated for an Oscar in 1952, with Kalmar, for their song "A Kiss to Build a Dream On," which was featured in the film 'The Strip.'
