She was the daughter of the late Henry and Evelina (Chouinard) LaPierre. She graduated from Boston University School of Education in 1938 and received her Masters Degree from Fitchburg State College in 1964.

After her marriage to Samuel DeSilvio in 1940, she made her home in Littleton from 1940 until the present. From 1949-1959, she owned and operated the Jack and Jill Kindergarten in her home. She then taught second grade at the Shattuck Street School in Littleton from 1959-1963. She retired in 1980 after teaching second grade in Charlotte Dunning School in Framingham from 1963-1980.

She was a member of St. Anne's Parish in Littleton, was a former President of St. Anne's Sodality, a Lector for many years, and a member of the parish Council. She attended Mass and the Rosary every month. She was an Alumna of Boston University, a Life member, President and State Chairman of Alpha Gamma Delta Nu Chapter from 1950-1970. She was a member of the Littleton Country Gardeners since 1984, and a member of the Littleton Senior Citizens since
1981 having served as president several times. She belonged to Mass Retired Teachers Association, was president of Littleton Teachers Association from 1962-1963, and served on the Regional School Committee to Regionalize with Acton from 195O-1953. She was also a member of the National Retired Teachers Association, Retired State and Municipal Employees of Mass, and chairwoman of "Friends of Littleton House Nursing Home" where she volunteered for many years.

Her favorite hobby was taking short trips with her husband, visiting relatives and friends in his piper Cub - a small plane that Sam kept in their backyard from 1936-1956. On these excursions, she enjoyed being "copilot" and taking aerial photos.

Her hobbies were golfing with the Women's League at Groton Country Club and bowling. She organized numerous group excursions to Tennessee, Florida, Bermuda and Hawaii.

She leaves her husband Samuel DeSilvio of Littleton with whom she celebrated 70 years of marriage in May, her daughters, Vilena and her husband, Gilbert Friberg of Littleton, Sandra and her husband, Ron Hinckley of Littleton; her grandchildren, Debra Stone, Sam Friberg, Eric Friberg, Brian Wright, Heidi Bourgeois, and Sarah Hinckley; and eight great-grandchildren.
