The Lahoma Sun, Lahoma, Garfield Co., OK, March 15, 1912, page 1, column 5&6

Wilson Caswell Pittman was born in Cass county, Mo., November 24, 1867, and died Friday morning, March 7, 1912, at his home at Pleasant Valley near Meno, Okla., in his 45th year. Although apparently robust, he had not been in good health for several years but no anxiety was felt by his friends until the day before his death.

Mr. Pittman came to Oklahoma at the beginning of the strip and occupied the place on which he settled to the time of his death except about three years spent in Ellis county. He was married here, to Gertie West, August 27, 1896. He united with the Church of Christ in 1892 and lived a devoted Christian life, assisted in building the Pleasant Valley church, and was an elder in the same. He leaves a wife and seven children, 3 boys and 4 girls, a father and mother, seven brothers and two sisters, to mourn their loss.

The funeral, one of the largest ever held here, was from the home at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. Rehorn, of Enid O.C.U. and the burial was in the Miller cemetery. The pall bearers were G.E. Doane, William Hays, R.E. Mock, Howard Lively, Jno. Bergdoll and Jno. Coward. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Rev. and Mrs. Henry Pittman, Arvine Pittman and Mr. and Mrs. Burt Pittman of Ellis county, Frank and Will Pittman of Bluff City, Ks., and Mrs. Belle Chambers of Portland, Ore. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
