RICHARD DORS

Richard Dors, 73, of Greenport died Sunday of a heart attack.

Mr Dors was born Sept 14, 1916 in Stoughton, Mass. He later moved to Greenport and was employed by the US Government as a technician on Plum Island. He was a member of the Greenport Fire Department's Eagle Hose Company, the Southold American Legion, the Riverhead Moose and Island's End Golf Club. He also was one of only 11 survivors of the USS Jacob Jones, a Navy destroyer sunk off Cape May NJ during World War II.

Mr Dors was predeceased by his wife Sophie in 1988, and his son Paul in 1960. He is survived by a son Richard Jr of Riverhead; a sister Alice Wallen of Massachusetts and two grandchildren.

Visiting hours were held Tuesday at the FJ McLaughlin Funeral Home in Greenport. Yesterday's funeral services took place at St Agnes Church in Greenport. Father John Sullivan officiated. Interment followed in St Agnes Cemetery.
