"Capt Richard" was the son of Richard Codman, Sr. and Anne Jones, youngest daughter of Phineas Jones (married July 10, 1758). They also had a daughter, Anne.
Capt Richard Codman, Jr married:
1st - Statira Preble, daughter of Jedidiah Preble and Mehitable Bangs on September 10, 1789. She died on August 15, 1796 at Portland or Falmouth, ME and was buried in the burial ground on Munjoy Hill or Eastern Cemetery, as it is called. She had two sons with Capt Richard (Edward Preble Codman and Richard Codman (3rd)) both of whom lived to manhood, but died unmarried and her line is extinct.
2nd - After her decease, he married Miss Susannah "Susan" Hichborn of Boston, by whom he had no children.
He died Sept. 9, 1833, aged 75, having survived all his children.
