Jim is my daughters' Grand Uncle through his older sister America "Meck" Lea (Pickens) Armstrong (1907-2005).
The seventh of ten children born to Samuel Kimbul and Martha Ella (Womack) Pickens of Yell Co AR and later Desha Co AR, Jim married Johnnie "Ji" V Sonora Connally on 17 Jan 1936 in Yell Co AR.

My source for his real name was his mother, (my grandmother) Ella Womack Pickens. He and my father were brothers. He was never known as James in the family. We always called him by the nickname my grandfather Sam Pickens gave him. I will research on line records and see what I can find. All immediate family members are deceased. My grandmother lived with us for many years before her death. So many items are stated as fact regarding her, like stating she had 2 sisters but she only had 1 other true sibling a sister named Rosa. Her mother died when she was only 2 years old. Her father married two other times and does have half siblings.
But this is his true name Ezra Cecil (nickname Jim) Pickens. Thank you, Frelis Pickens Schulz
