IN LOVING MEMORY OF AUNT JOSEPHINE

Josephine M. D'Alessandri, 94, died in Mercy Memorial Hospital, Monroe. She had been ill for two months. Friends called in the Rupp Funeral Home, where the Rosary Prayers were recited. Services were in the funeral home and at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald Hanchon officiated and burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe, Monroe County, Michigan.

Born April 20, 1895, in Arnara, Italy, Josephine was the daughter of Angelo and Ada (Salvatori) D'Arpini. She was married Feb. 12, 1914, to Frank D'Alessandri in Arnara. They came to Monroe in 1919. Her husband Frank D'Alessandri preceded her in death in 1961.

Josephine had been a seamstress for more than 20 years at St. Mary Academy, Monroe, Monroe County, Michigan. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, its Altar Society, the Third Order of St. Francis and the Daughters of Isabella.

Josephine was survived by her son, Valenzo D'Alessandri of Monroe; 2 daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Lelia) Smith and Dolores D'Alessandri, both of Monroe; also a sister, Mrs.Mary Licina. She was preceded in death by five children, including Ada Grosse, and John D'Alessandri, five brothers and a sister.

OUR AUNT JOSEPHINE REMEMBERED WITH SO MUCH LOVE

"Josephine was the sister of Saturno D'Arpini, my father-in-law. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of St. Joseph Church in Monroe. I had the pleasure of attending one Christmas Eve service when she carried the symbolic Baby Jesus up to the Alter. Only the oldest living member of the church had the privilege to do this each Christmas Eve service. Oh, how special, Josephine could barely walk. It took her a while to reach the front, had to hold on to her son, but what pride she showed to be honored to do that. Josephine was a small tiny lady, and was loved by all who knew her.

Later on, her great grandson Bronco McKart, would become a World Boxing Champion. He also was my mother's great nephew. Robert and I always had to figure out how everyone was related, we just said double cousins for everyone.

Dear Josephine, you were an angel on earth, I know you are one of Heaven's Finest. REST IN PEACE."
