Funeral services for Ansel J. Ehret, a native of Baugo township, were held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Adamsville, Mich., EUB church. The Rev. Inez Martz of Marcellus, Mich. officiated, with burial in Adamsville cemetery.
Mr. Ehret was born Dec. 9, 1885 in Baugo township, north of Wakarusa, the son of the late Cornelius O. Ehret and Nancy (Yoder) Ehret. He married Anna Kreighbaum, April 18, 1909 in Wakarusa. He was a farmer all his life with the exception of seven years when he taught in the Elkhart county schools. He moved to Cass county 30 years ago.
"Cornelius Ehret, Ansel's father, purchased 120 acres in Mason Township in 1919 near Union, Michigan. Ansel moved to the farm from Jamestown, IN by driving his livestock on-foot down Main Street in Elkhart,IN to the farm which he later purchased. Ansel was a Mason Township trustee and a delegate to the Michigan Republican State Convention Sept. 25, 1948 which supported the party nominees Thomas Dewey and Earl Warren."
Surviving besides the widow are two sons, Yale W. Ehret of Elkhart and Waldo G. Ehret of Mason township; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Ona) Essig and Mrs. Arneal (Welda) Squibb of Elkhart and six brothers, Howard of Ballentine, Mont., John Rusell of Lagrange, Dwight of Puerto Rico and Louis, Otto and Leonard of Elkhart. -11/11/1948
