Fred A. Ash, 74, Terre Haute, died Friday at his residence.
Born June 20, 1928 in Greencastle, he was the son of Claude and Eva (Bowman) Ash.
He was pastor of Gospel Tabernacle Church for 18 years.
He served in the ministry for more than 50 years. During his career with the help of his wife, established and built Danville (Ind.) Apostolic Church from 1961-1972 and was pastor of Home Avenue United Pentecostal Church in Terre Haute from 1972-1981.
He also worked at Bridgeport Brass in Indianapolis, 1943-1973, and had been a contractor with Bemis Co. from 1987-1994.
He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Medical Corps.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, B. Deloris Horner Ash; two daughters, Patsy Manuel and husband Pastor Terry Manuel and Phyllis Bucklew and husband Mike Pick, all of Terre Haute; a son, Kevin Ray Ash and his wife Marsha Ash, Terre Haute; a sister, Loretta Elliott, Billings, Mont.; four grandchildren, two nephews and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Virginia Ash Kerns. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Gospel Tabernacle Church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
Visitation is set for 4-8 p.m. Monday in the church. Callahan and Hughes, Terre Haute, assisted with arrangements.
