October 1934:

George Washington White, son of Ezekiel
White and wife, was born August 9, 1855, at
Coalmont, Penn. And departed this life
October 9, 1934, at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Geo. Allen of Lyndon, aged
79 years and 2 months.

He came to Kansas with his parents when a
boy and settled near Americus, where he
grew to manhood. He married Etta J. Loy,
Oct. 30, 1879, who preceded him in death
July 14, 1909. To this union eight children
were born.

In November 1901, he moved his family to
Lyndon, where he has lived since with the
exception of a few years spent in California.
He leaves to mourn his going his children,
Arthur of Lancaster, Calif., Earl, Russel,
Herbert and Harry of Burbank, Calif., Mrs.
James Humphrey of Americus, Kas., Mrs.
Geo. Allen of Lyndon and Mrs. Floyd
Shirley of Melvern, together with 21
grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren;
also his sister, Mrs. Anna Whitman and
brothers Elmer and William of Seattle,
Wash. He was a member of the Methodist
church of Lyndon and also belonged to the
Masonic order.

On account of ill health he has spent a
greater part of the last few years at home,
but without complaining has bravely met
conditions as they were. His cheerfulness
and forbearance has made him many friends
who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on
Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the
Methodist church by Rev. Orton, and the
burial was made in the Lyndon cemetery.
Relatives from a distance attending the
services were Arthur B. White, Lancaster,
Calif., Mr. and Mrs. James Humphrey and
family and Mr. L.A. Burckett, Americus, Mr.
and Mrs. Pearle Loy, Dunlap, Mr. Jess Loy,
Topeka, Mr. Harvey Loy, Pasadena, Calif.
