Mary Elizabeth Douglass, youngest known child of Col. George Douglass and Elizabeth Selden, b. Oct. 15, 1842 at what became Bates County, MO. She d. Apr. 4, 1873 likely at Rich Hill, MO, the latter founded by her husband. However, she is interred at the old Papinsville Cemetery associated with the small town of Papinsville, MO. Papinsville was near Harmony Mission to the Osage Indians (1821-1835) at which Mary's parents were involved.

On July 26, 1868, Mary m. as his 1st wife, Livington Culbertson, s. of David, b. Apr. 14, 1838 at Scott County, VA. He came to Missouri in 1866, founded the Town of Rich Hill where he had the first general store. He would marry three times and d. Nov. 13, 1911 likely at Linn County, KS. Together with his third wife Levina McHenry he is interred at Green Lawn Cemetery at Rich Hill.

Mary and Livingston had only two known children, sons Jerry and Findley, the latter dying in 1888 only days shy of his 16th birthday. Findley is interred at Green Lawn Cemetery at Rich Hill. Elder son Jerry would become an attorney and successful entrepreneur at Kansas City, MO where he raised a family. He d. at Kansas City in 1947 where he is interred.
