Gilbert "Jake" Beaver was born February 11, 1936, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, to Jim and Flora (Stopp) Beaver. He departed this life on Thursday, December 29, 2005, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 69 years, 10 months, and 18 days. Jake had spent most of his lifetime in the Locust Grove area. He had attended school at Cedar Bluff and surrounding areas. He served his country as a U S Marine. On January 30, 1960, in Stigler, Oklahoma, Gilbert Beaver and Iola May Perry were united in marriage. Jake was a member of the Cedar Grove Church. He was also a member of the V.F.W. in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Jake enjoyed fishing and traveling. He loved to go to church and most of all, serving his Lord. Jake loved to spend time with his family and especially enjoyed family gatherings. He will be remembered as a loving and caring person. He is survived by: his wife of over 45 years: Iola of the home; 3 children: Jake Beaver of the home, Gilbert Beaver and wife Vicki of Peggs, Oklahoma, and Sandra Ballou and husband Robert of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren: Brandon Beaver and wife Carri, Anthony Ballou, Stephanie Beaver, Audrey Ballou, and Hannah Ballou; 2 great grandchildren: Baylee and Caylee Beaver; 1 brother: James Beaver of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 1 sister: Lucinda Backwater of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; special relatives raised as a sister and brother: Cleta Duhart of Denver, Colorado and Tony Richardson and wife Joyce of Cushing, Oklahoma; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Jake was preceded in death by: his parents; 1 brother: Tommy Beaver; 2 sisters: Roselee Beaver and Marylee Richardson; 1 son: Tommy Michael Beaver; and 1 nephew: Jesse Colvin. Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 31, 2005, at the Cedar Grove Church of Locust Grove. Reverend Sampson Leach and Reverend Bill Braden officiated. Interment followed at Ballou Cemetery in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
