Melvin Louis Krey, 58 years, 0 months, 22 days, pf 6255 S Rogers Street, Hawks, passed away Wednesday (January 29) at home following an extended illness.
He was born January 7, 1934, on the family farm in Belknap Township to Edward and Edna (Kortman) Krey. On October 10, 1953, he was united in marriage with Miss Shirley Wood at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Flint.
Mr. Krey was employed for many years by Lakeside Construction and later was employed as a carpenter for Krey's Construction.
Surviving are:
...his wife of 38 years, Shirley;
...his children,
......a daughter Kathy (Mrs Larry) Srebnik of Alpena, and
......two sons, Sam and Allen, both of Alpena;
...three brothers,
......Ralph Krey of Clio,
......Don Krey of Hillman; and
......Dale Krey of Dalton, Georgia;
...five sisters,
......Beatrice Brege and
......Delores Bruning, both of Rogers City,
......Betty Irish and
......Fay (Mrs. Charles) Fincher, both of Flint, and
......Audrey Werner of Pontiac;
...five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by:
...both his parents
......his mother Edna in 1950 and
......his father Edward in 1979;
...two brothers Earl and Herman.
The funeral was at St John Lutheran Church in Hagensville with the Rev Mark Honeck officiating. Mr. Krey's earthly remains were then laid to rest in the St John's church cemetery.
