Shirley, 84 of Houghton Lake passed away on Saturday at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Shirley was born to James and Isabelle (Hallock) Smith. She was married on August 22, 1953 in Corning, New York to Daniel J. Totten and he preceded Shirley in death in 1989. The couple moved from Parma, Michigan to the Houghton Lake area in 1984. Shirley enjoyed the outdoors especially camping and fishing with her family. She attended Faith Community Church in Houghton Lake.
Mrs. Totten is survived by her loving son, Richard A. (Thelma Jo) Smith of Jackson; three dear grandchildren; Christine(Timothy) Cutler, Robert J. Smith, and Richard J. Smith, all of Jackson; two dear great granddaughters, Ashley Cutler and Kaci Bergman; one dear great great granddaughter, Emily Hope Cutler; along with several nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Daniel; and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Shirley I. Totten was conducted Thursday January 13, 2011 at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel with Rev. Robert Russell officiating.
