Thank You for your visit to our dearest Grandma Dollie. Your visit means so much to us. God bless.
༺⊰❁ Dollie May Derr Steinberger was the daughter of Noah and Henrietta Gorsuch Derr, born December 7, 1881 in Hagerstown, Maryland. She married Harry Edgar Steinberger on October 5, 1897 in Newport, Kentucky. Harry and Dollie settled into family life at Springfield, Ohio. Dollie worked as a secretary for one of her relatives until she was almost due with her first child. From then on she worked within the home caring for her family. She was a very quiet and gentle lady. Grandpa Ralph said he never heard them argue once.
Harry and Dollie had 3 children: Clarence Edgar, born July 24, 1898; Chester Arthur, born March 28, 1901; and, my grandpa, Ralph Irvin, born July 23, 1905.
After her beloved Harry passed away on July 10, 1928 G-Grandma Dollie no longer had the desire to live. She passed away on April 4, 1929 of rheumatic heart disease in her home in Springfield, Ohio. Dollie was buried next to her beloved Harry at Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield, Ohio.
We watched her breathing through the night,
Her breathing soft and low,
As inner breath the waye of life
Kept heaving to and fro.
So silently we seemed to speak,
So slowly moved about,
As we had lent her half our powers
To eke her living out.
Our very hopes belied our fears,
Our fears our hopes belied.
We thought her dying when she slept,
And sleeping when she died.
For when the eve came dim and sad,
And chill with early showers,
Her quiet eyelids closed--she had
Another morn than ours. ~written by Alice R. Steinberger, Copyright 2012
G-Grandma Dollie is still loved and greatly missed by the family. Rest in God's peace and love.
