Louis Armand
Birth: Jan. 17, 1905
Death: Aug. 30, 1971

French Government Official. Until the Gestapo captured him, he spent World War II blowing up Nazi troop trains in France. Afterward, as head of railway reconstruction, he did a masterly job of modernizing the French rail system. He also helped create Euratom, Westen Europe's atomic-energy commission, and served as its first President. (bio by: K)
