MRS. CHRISTINE NIEMANN. Last Saturday the remains of Mrs. Christine Niemann, nee Hansen, arrived from Chicago where she passed away last Thursday at the home of her son, Carl, after a lingering illness. The funeral services were held at the German Lutheran church of which organization she had been a faithful member. Interment was made in Keystone cemetery.

Mrs. Niemann was born in Denmark, Aug. 8, 1836 and was married to Friedrick Nieman May 12, 1854. As a result of this union there were 18 children, 6 sons and 5 daughters of which are yet living. She immigrated to Benton county in 1880. Her husband preceded her in death about seven years ago. The deceased leaves 34 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. All the children were present at the last sad rites, as were also many friends who came to pay a last tribute to a loving mother and a kind friend. Christine was the wife of Karl Friederich Christian Niemann and the mother of 4 Niemann girls who came to live in the Remsen, Iowa area: Rosa who married Henry Nelson, Olga Stella who married John Lotz, Dagmar who married Herman Wullstein and Alexandra who married Henry Wullstein.
