Leon Kenneth "Kenny" Adcock
Chillicothe - Leon Kenneth "Kenny" Adcock, 91, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 6:42 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Chillicothe, Illinois.
He was born Feb. 4, 1919, in Peoria, Illinois, to George and Lenora (Koppman) Adcock. He married Freda Elizabeth Serpette in Lilly, Ill., on Sept. 19, 1948. She preceded him in death on April 4, 1985.
Surviving are one daughter, Cynthia Maxey of Chicago; and one son, Therry (Jill) Adcock of Edelstein. Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Ryan Maxey, Phelan Maxey of Chicago, Leon (Lisa) Adcock of Chillicothe and Rilla Adcock of Edelstein.
His parents; his wife, Freda; and son-in-law, Robert Maxey; preceded him in death.
Kenny worked at Hyster as a production scheduler until his retirement in 1975. He continued to work part time at Sam Leman Dodge until 1999.
He was seen year-round in Averyville riding his 1945 Harley-Davidson motorcycle back and forth to Hyster. During the winter, he would attach his homemade sidecar.
Kenny supported Freda in her china painting artistry and business, and they enjoyed many trips together as they attended shows throughout the country.
Kenny was a 67-year member of the Peoria Motorcycle Club.
He also enjoyed ballroom dancing and the many great friends he made cutting a rug at the Miller Center and The Hub ballroom.
Kenny was known for his homemade pies, gift of gab, vegetable garden and unfaltering support and love for his family. He will be dearly missed.
He was a member of Madison Avenue Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home, located at 428 W. McClure Ave., Peoria. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
The family would like to thank the kind and very loving staff of Heritage Manor. They affectionately called him Papa and took very good care of him.
Memorials may be made to the Peoria Motorcycle Club or Madison Avenue United Methodist Church, Peoria, Illinois.
