Mrs. Viva Ed Thrash Brown, age 76 of Hope passed away, Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Baptist Medical Center, Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born on May 10, 1932, in Glenwood, Arkansas, to Homer Edgar and Faye Elizabeth Butcher Thrash.

She was a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University and very active as an alumni member. She was a retired school teacher; a member of First Baptist Church of Hope; former Youth Leader in her church; former director of the Miss Southwest Arkansas Pageant; former co-manager of the Holiday-Inn Express of Hope; and one of the reunion leaders of the Hope High Class of 1950 Reunions. She was a caring teacher and faithful friend who loved her family very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents. HER SURVIVORS INCLUDE: HER HUSBAND: (of 54 years) Hugh Edward Brown, Hope, Arkansas. ONE SON: Nick Brown and Susan, Little Rock, Ark. ONE DAUGHTER: Lisa Thomas, Van Alstyne, Texas. TWO SISTERS: Anna Faye Thrash Voris, Tulsa, Okla. Kathy Thrash Harn, Houston, Texas. SIX GRANDCHILDREN: Nolan Brown, Little Rock, Ark. Lana Brown, Little Rock, Ark. Chesley Skipper, Little Rock, Ark. Jaime Skipper, Little Rock, Ark. Orion and Hearth Thomas, both of Van Alstyne, Texas. ONE Great-Granddaughter: Emma Taylor. And several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at First Baptist Church, Hope, Arkansas, with Rev. Earl Cumbie and Rev. Mark Fischer officiating. Burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Hope, Ark. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home, Hope, Ark.
