Abraham Waggoner was the son of Henry Waggoner II, both born in Virginia. Abraham's father was a soldier of the American Revolution and is buried in the Wagoner Cemetery in Lawrence County, IN, Indian Creek Township. Abraham's grandfather was Henry Waggoner I,born in 1733, who came over from Germany. Abraham's children were John, Jane, James, Elijah and May Mary. Abraham owned land in Lawrence, Greene, Martin, and Orange counties. He married Barbara Beaty Feb 27, 1820, and she is buried in the Salem Cemetery, Martin Co. IN on the Crane Naval Depot.
