Mary Jane Foster, 83, of Cortland, passed away December 22, 2010 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. She was born April 22, 1927 in Virgil, the daughter of the late Ray and Fanny Kryger Foster.
Mary Jane was a lifetime member of the Cortland Free Methodist Church where she was an active member. In her younger years she was a day care provider of children in their family homes and then went on to care for the elderly in their homes.
She is survived by her brothers Robert Foster of Cortland, Ralph Foster of Hendersonville Tenn., Rev. Ernest Foster of Rochester NY, Carl Foster of Frederick MD, Harold Foster of Cortland, Charles Foster of Winston Salem NC, sisters Ruth Stevens of Cortland Edna Mae Widger of Woodbine MD, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was predeceased by her siblings Ethel Briggs and Paul Foster.
A calling hour will be held Wednesday 10-11 am with a funeral to begin 11 am at the Cortland Free Methodist Church on the corner of Jewett St. and Grace St. with Rev. Tom Chappell and her brother Rev. Ernest Foster presiding. Spring burial will be in the Cortland Rural Cemetery.
