Jerry Monroe Coplen passed away peacefully Monday, October 17, 2005 at Midland Memorial Hospital after a short but courageous battle with Cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 7, 1938 in McCamey, Texas to Alfred Monroe and Raynor Rachel Tarpley Coplen.

He graduated from McCamey High School in 1956, attended Texas Tech and Angelo State University, received and Associates Degree and joined the Navy. While in the Navy he served on a minesweeper, Jerry was honorably discharged as an E-6.

He married Sherry Blackman on February 14, 1968 in Acuña, Mexico.

He worked as a driller in the oil industry.

Jerry loved to spend his days playing golf, cards, fishing and especially if it involved his kids or grandkids.

He was a very loving and caring, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Monroe Coplen and Raynor Tarpley Coplen; Three brothers, Alfred Allen Coplen, Joe Wylie Coplen and Donald Ray Coplen; Two sisters, Mary Lou Holt and Patsy Ruth Herring.

Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife Sherry Coplen of San Angelo, Texas; His son William Coplen and wife Jennifer of Jacksonville, NC; His two daughters, Kim Kondratick and husband John of Alpine, TX and Heather Maier and husband Don of San Angelo, TX; His brother, Eddie Coplen and wife Janie of Bella Vista, AR; His sister, Helen Reed and husband Charlie of Denton, TX; The lights of his life his four grandchildren, Hunter Coplen of Lake Ellsinore, CA. Braydon Kondratick of Alpine, TX, Caleb and Madeline Coplen of Jacksonville, NC; his two great grandchildren, Garrett Maier and Alexis Maier of San Angelo, TX; He also had numerous nephews and nieces.

Graveside service will be Thursday, October 20, 2005, 1:00 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park with Brandon Oaks officiating.
