Note: BIOGRAPHY: William aka Grancy Billy, was murdered in 1881 by Hemp Crouse near the old Hare Mill in the Glade Creek section of Alleghany. While on his death bed years later Crouse confessed to the murder and told where William was buried. William's grandson, Morgan Edwards moved the remains to the Edward family cemetary on the old Dillion Edwards farm six miles east of Sparta.
