Censuses state she was born in Louisiana, while the 1910 census records her birth in New York. The manifest of the S. S. Scandia shows that the Stefano Bono family, with two young daughters, arrived in New York from Palermo, Sicily on 21 February 1898.
The three children of Stefano Bono and Anna DiCarlo born after 1899 are found in the New Orleans birth index.
